Rami Malek returning for more cyber drama

MrRobot2

NBC Universal’s Emmy-nominated cyberhacker drama, Mr. Robot has been renewed for a third season.

Mr. Robot – which airs on Amazon Prime in the UK – follows Elliot Alderson (played by Rami Malek), a cyber-security engineer who suffers with anxiety and depression. While trying to connect with people via cyber-vigilantism he is recruited by an underground hacker group called fsociety, lead by ‘Mr. Robot’ (Christian Slater) to target big corporations.

Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal, said: “We couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Robot, a series that has pushed boundaries, captured the cultural zeitgeist, and been honored as one of the best dramas on television. Midway through its second season, Mr. Robot continues to break new ground and open up new opportunities for the network. We can’t wait to see where Sam Esmail and the entire brilliant Robot team take us next.”

Jeff Wachtel, Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal and President, Universal Cable Productions added: “Sam and company just keep taking it to another level. We can’t wait to get going on Season 3… as soon as we finish Season 2!”

Mr. Robot also stars Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Martin Wallstrom, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer and Stephanie Corneliussen.

Season 2 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime in the UK.
