Lesley Manville returning for more Mum

Mum

BBC Two has re-commissioned a second series of critically acclaimed sitcom, Mum, by Him & Her writer/executive producer Stefan Golaszewski.

Returning for 6 x 30 minute episodes, the comedy series from Big Talk Production, in association with The Money Men – follows family life, seen through the eyes of ‘Mum‘ Cathy (played by Olivier Award-winning actress Lesley Manville) as she adjusts to life, re-learning who she is and maybe finding love again following the death of her husband.

Mum also stars Peter Mullan, Sam Swainsbury, Lisa McGrillis, Ross Boatman, Dorothy Atkinson, Marlene Sidaway and Karl Johnson.

Shane Allen, Controller, Comedy Commissioning, says: “This well-loved and warm-hearted show has been blessed with that rare alchemy of great concept, beautiful writing and terrific cast. Series 2 gives us a more positive Cathy at the core of this world as she moves forward from the lost love of series 1, all laced with deftly drawn characters and comedy sparkle.”

The final episode of series 1 aired tonight (17 June) on BBC Two. Mum series 2 will begin filming series 2 in 2017.
