Ben McKenzie returning to fight Gotham’s villains

Gotham has officially been renewed for Season 3, Fox has confirmed.

The Batman prequel will return for a new 22-episode season, after US figures show a high of 9 million viewers.

The drama series focuses on police Detective Jim Gordon (played by Ben McKenzie) in his quest to clean up the streets of Gotham from the many criminals that live there. While future Batman, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is trying to unravel his family’s secrets and discover his parents killer.

The cast also stars Sean Pertwee, Cory Michael Smith, Morena Baccarin, Donal Logue, Robin Taylor and Camren Bicondova. Jada Pinkett Smith, who played crime boss, Fish Mooney in season 1 will be returning for multiple episodes later in the series.

Fox president David Madden, said: “It takes a very special team to tell the tales of Gotham. For the past two seasons, Bruno, Danny and John have masterfully honored the mythology of Gotham and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama. This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn’t be more proud of this show.”

Gotham Season 2 is currently airing on Channel 5 in the UK.
