‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ actor as haunted cop

A first-look picture has been released of Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård (above) in new BBC One six-part drama, River.

Written by Abi Morgan, River focuses on John River (Skarsgård), a brilliant police officer whose genius and fault-line is the fragility of his mind – a man haunted by the murder victims whose cases he must lay to rest.

Spooks and Last Tango in Halifax star Nicola Walker stars as DS Jackie ‘Stevie’ Stevenson, a colleague and close friend of River.

Eddie Marsan, Adeel Akhtar, Lesley Manville, Sorcha Cusack and Georgina Rich also feature in the series.

River will air Tuesday, 13th October at 9pm on BBC One.
