Sky Atlantic has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming edge-of-the-seat, cat-and-mouse thriller, ‘The Following’, starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, which will air just one day after its U.S premiere.

Created by Kevin Williamson, the writer behind the Scream movies and True Blood, the series tells the story of notorious serial killer Joe Carroll (Purefoy) who escapes death row and embarks on a new killing spree. Having put Carroll away nine years earlier and knowing him better than anyone else, the FBI call upon former agent and psychologically damaged Ryan Hardy to assist on the case. But they soon uncover a sinister web involving an entire cult of mass murderers, all communicating with one another, all masterminded by the devious Carroll.

The drama also  stars Natalie Zea, Mike Weston and Annie Parisse.

Kevin Bacon says:

‘The script was a real page-turner’, adding, ‘I picked it up and read it all in half an hour. It scared the hell out of me, but I thought it was great. I also loved the character. I wanted to play a complex and damaged hero – and here he was right in front of me.’

‘The Following’ premieres exclusively on Sky Atlantic HD and Sky Atlantic +1 on Tuesday 22 January.
