All-star cast for ‘Last Tango in Halifax’

We’re very excited to present the first look official photo for Sally Wainwright’ and Red Production Company’s new BBC One drama ‘Last Tango in Halifax‘ (formerly Antony and Cleopatra) which is due to air in November.

Leading the cast of the six-part drama is, Derek Jacobi (The King’s Speech; Borgias) and Anne Reid (Upstairs, Downstairs; Marchlands) in a new romantic comedy series that sees would-be childhood sweethearts Alan (Jacobi) and Celia (Reid) reunited after 60 years. But the uplifting tale of true love is anything but smooth and the pair are surprised to find it’s their own families, and especially daughters Caroline played by Sarah Lancashire (Five Daughters; Rose And Maloney) and Gillian played by Nicola Walker (Spooks; Being Human) who create the obstacles.

Joining them is: Tony Gardner (Fresh Meat); Dean Andrews ( Ashes To Ashes; Marchlands); Ronni Ancona (Skins; Big Impression) and Josh Bolt
(Nowhere Boy).

Writer and creator Sally Wainwright said: “I can’t remember being this excited about writing a TV series. It’s everything good; uplifting, life-affirming, funny. It’s a joy to write. I’m bowled over by the stunning cast we’ve assembled, and thrilled to be working with Nicola [executive producer Nicola Shindler], Karen [producer Karen Lewis] and Euros [director Euros Lyn] again.”

Last Tango in Halifax will air on BBC One, November 20th at 9pm.
