BBC Two has announced that Watson And Oliver has been commissioned for a second series of 6×30 minute episodes.

The sketch show series stars female comedy duo Lorna Watson and Ingrid Oliver who will also write series two, which will feature characters from the first series plus a host of new creations.

Watson and Oliver, who made their name at the Edinburgh Festival and since, along with their own series, have appeared in a range of comedies and most recently on Let’s Dance For Sport Relief.

Mark Freeland, BBC Head of In-House Comedy, said: “I’m extremely excited that Watson And Oliver’s comic creations will be back on BBC Two next year. It’s reward for their colourful range of characters, their warmth and sheer verve.”

Watson and Oliver said: “We’re over the moon that the BBC has given us a second series. We’re absolutely chuffed to bits and can’t wait to get cracking on it. ‘Ere it comes and off we go.”

Executive producer, Robert Popper, said: “I’m thrilled that Lorna and Ingrid will be back on the telly. They’re superb comedy actresses and I love their silliness.”

The series will be produced by BBC In-House Comedy in association with Popper Pictures. It will be executive produced by Mark Freeland and Robert Popper (Peep Show, Friday Night Dinner).

Watson and Oliver series two will be filmed later this year.
