Three new regular characters will soon be making their debuts in BBC One’s Holby City.
First to arrive will be new Consultant General Surgeon Serena Campbell, played by Catherine Russell (The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Pete versus Life).
Charming, candid and utterly professional, Serena will arrive at Holby City to shake up the old order. With an outstanding business brain, she is equally at home in the boardroom or in theatre. As an unapologetic achiever and fearless architect of change, she is a force to be reckoned with.
The next new member of staff is Jonny Maconie, played by Michael Thomson. As Holby City’s new Nurse and Transplant Coordinator Jonny has no qualms about telling a few white lies to stir up some mischief. Although cocky and roguish, he’ll never compromise patient care. Charismatic Jonny would love to settle down with the right woman, but until then he’s happy to have a little fun.
Finally, Jonny is joined by best friend Mo Effanga, played by Chizzy Akudolu (Dead Set, Campus). Mo is generous, plain-speaking and warm-hearted. Mo is a passionate believer that our bodies are merely on loan to us. As Registrar Cardiothoracic Surgery, Mo builds long term relationships with her patients and goes the extra mile to ensure their very best care. Disorganised and chaotic in her personal life, if there’s a disastrous man on the horizon, she’ll find him!
Johnathan Young, Executive Producer says: “These are three very talented actors and I am delighted to welcome them to the cast. There are some dramatic and exciting storylines coming up on Holby City over the next few months and I know our new additions will have an immediate impact.”
All three new cast members will make their on-screen debuts in May 2012.
Holby City continues on BBC One and BBC One HD every Tuesday at 8pm.
