Ben McKenzie returns to the “Mad City” of Gotham

FOX has released a new poster and teaser for Gotham Season 3, highlighting all of the “monsters” star Ben McKenzie‘s Jim Gordon is set to face this season. 

Based on characters from DC Comics, the stunning new picture almost looks like a fairytale, until you notice the crystal ball Jim is holding contains numerous villains of the Batman prequel series. The villains include Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Edward Nygma/future Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), along with sometime friend and foe Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), Jim’s ex Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) and Butch (Drew Powell). 

The poster also features Maggie Geha as the adult Ivy Pepper/Poison Ivy, who has replaced Clare Foley, who played the child version of the character in the first two seasons of Gotham. Ivy’s is said to be “reborn as a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms and sets her sights on Bruce Wayne.” Her aging is said to be caused by one of Indian Hill’s ‘monsters’ which will be explained in the forthcoming season.

Sean Pertwee, Donal Logue, Michael Chiklis, David Mazouz, Chris Chalk and Jamie Chung also star.  

New villains include The Court of Owls, The Walking Dead‘s Benedict Samuel as the Mad Hatter and Solomon Grundy.

Gotham airs on Channel 5 in the UK. Season 3 is set to premiere in the US on FOX on September 19, with the UK airdate yet to be announced.
