Supergirl flies over to Vancouver
It’s been rumoured for a while but Supergirl has finally being renewed for a second season — but will be moving network, from CBS to The CW.
The CW is perhaps a better fit for the superhero series, joining producer Greg Berlanti’s universe of comic book adaptations, Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. It may also provide a ratings boost with Supergirl currently attracting more viewers than The Flash, The CW’s highest rated show.
Starring Melissa Benoist as the title character the move also means moving production from Los Angeles to Vancouver which may allow for more crossover episodes like the recent Flash / Supergirl episode. The downside is, a network move will mean a cut in the shows current production budget.
Also starring Chyler Leigh, Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood and Jeremy Jordan, the change is unlikely to affect UK viewers with the series currently airing on Sky 1, along with Berlanti’s other superhero productions.
