Cast announced as filming begins.

ITV has announced the cast for new six-part ITV drama, The Level, as filming begins.

Leading the cast of the tense thriller is, Karla Crome (You, Me & The Apocalypse, Misfits), Philip Glenister (Prey, Ashes to Ashes), Laura Haddock (Da Vinci’s Demons, Guardians Of The Galaxy), Noel Clarke (Chasing Shadows, Doctor Who), Robert James Collier (Downton Abbey, Coronation Street), Lindsey Coulson (EastEnders, Casualty), Gary Lewis (Outlander, Billy Elliott), Jo Absolom (Doc Martin), Amanda Burton (Waterloo Road) and Ruth Madeley (Don’t Take My Baby).

Detective Sergeant Nancy Devlin (Crome) has a secret double life. Her exemplary police career masks a covert attachment to shady businessman and drugs trafficker, Frank Le Saux (Glenister). Inextricably linked to Frank from childhood as the father of her best friend, Hayley (Haddock) and the father figure she herself craved.

Nancy has been playing a dangerous game to ensure that Frank always remains off the police radar.

Nancy soon finds herself at the centre of an investigation which puts her at risk of exposure and sees her stalked by a killer intent on destroying her.

Further cast includes: Suzanne Packer (Casualty), Lorne MacFadyen (Grantchester), Jane Hazlegrove (Holby City), Ashley Kumar (EastEnders), Kelly Harrison (Happy Valley) and Rupert Procter (Peaky Blinders).

The drama is produced by BAFTA award-winning indie Hillbilly Television, and written by Gaby Chiappe (Shetland, Lark Rise to Candleford) and Alex Perrin (Leonardo, Shetland), Andy Goddard (Dracula, Downton Abbey) is lead director.

The Level has commenced filming in Brighton and London.
