‘The Durrells’ meet the locals in new clip

Joining ITV’s recent new drama previews, including Houdini & Doyle and Scott & Bailey, is a first-look at Keeley Hawes in new six-part series, The Durrells.

Set in the 1930s, The Durrells is based upon Gerald Durrell’s classic trilogy of Corfu memoirs including the much loved ‘My Family and Other Animals’.

The story focuses upon Louisa Durrell (Hawes) whose life is in meltdown. Her husband died years ago and his money has all but run out. In a time when a woman’s options are limited, Louisa realises she can carry on struggling, marry someone comfortably off but oppressive, or make a radical change and escape. Along with her four unruly and reluctant ‘children’ Larry, Leslie, Margo and Gerry, Louisa relocates her family to the cheap, and untamed paradise of Corfu.

Josh O’Connor, Callum Woodhouse, Daisy Waterstone, Milo Parker, Alexis Georgoulis, Leslie Caron, Yorgos Karamihos and Christopher Sciueref also star.

The Durrells is set to air on ITV this Spring.
