Channel 4 has released a first-look trailer of the second series of Indian Summers – and it’s set to be an emotional rollercoaster of drama.

The new 10-part series will return to Simla in the summer of 1935, three years after the events of the first series. Aafrin (Nikesh Patel) gets caught up in a threat to bomb the British, and also rekindles his relationship with Alice (Jemima West) who has returned with her husband, putting her her in danger.

Meanwhile, Cynthia (Julie Walters) sees an opportunity for Ralph (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) to take over as the Viceroy of India.

New cast members include, Rachel Griffiths, Art Malik, James Fleet, Sugandha Garg, Arjun Mathur and Blake Ritson.

Indian Summers returns to Channel 4 in the New Year.
