The first images of BBC two drama Wolf Hall have been unveiled.

The two images show Damian Lewis as King Henry VIII and Mark Rylance as Thomas Cromwell.

The six-part adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s Booker Prize-winning novel follows the meteoric rise of Cromwell in the Tudor court, from his lowly start as the son of a blacksmith to becoming King Henry VIII’s closest advisor.

Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) has written the series, which also features: Anton Lesser, Charity Wakefield, Claire FoyJessica Raine, Mark Gatiss, Joanne Whalley, Jonathan Pryce, Mathieu Amalric, Natasha Little, Richard Dillane, Bernard Hill, Saskia Reeves and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

Wolf Hall will air on BBC Two in 2015.
