New medical drama to air in the autumn
Sky Atlantic is to air 10-part HBO drama The Knick directed by Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Side Effects, Behind the Candelabra).
Set in downtown New York in 1900, the series centres on Knickerbocker Hospital and the ground-breaking surgeons, nurses and staff, who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.
British actor Clive Owen (Children of Men, Hemingway & Gellhorn) stars as Dr John W Thatcher at the centre of the Knickerboker Hospital.
The cast also includes Andre Holland, Eve Hewson, Jeremy Bobb, Juliet Rylance, Michael Angarano, Chris Sullivan, Cara Seymour, Eric Johnson, David Fierro, Maya Kazan, Grainger Hines and Leon Addison Brown.
The Knick will air on Sky Atlantic in the autumn.
