BBC axes First World War drama



BBC One drama The Crimson Field will not be returning for a second series, writer Sarah Phelps has confirmed on twitter.

Phelps tweeted: “Found out today that #TheCrimsonField won’t be recommissioned by @BBCOne Gutted doesn’t even touch the sides of how I feel.”

The six-part First World War drama followed the doctors and nurses of a British field hospital in France and starred: Suranne Jones, Oona ChaplinHermione NorrisAlice St. ClairMarianne OldhamKerry FoxKevin DoyleJack GordonAlex WyndhamRichard Rankin, and Jeremy Swift.
