The Dark Knight Rises Bane, actor Tom Hardy has been cast in the second series of BBC Two’s Peaky Blinders.

Reuniting with his Inception co-star Cillian Murphy in the Birmingham-set gangster drama will see Tom play a charismatic leader who presents a unique opportunity to Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy).

The six-part series will also reunite him with Steven Knight writer and director of Locke and writer and creator of Peaky Blinders.

The second series will see the Shelby family expand their empire with Knight saying “The ‘Peaky Blinders’ will march on to many surprising places and fight astonishing battles as the 1920s begin to roar.”

Peaky Blinders will begin filming later this month (February 2014) for transmission in the autumn.
