2015 will see a third outing for BBC1’s The Syndicate

Kay Mellor’s popular BBC One lottery-winning drama, The Syndicate has been recommissioned for a third series of six episodes.

The third series will focus on staff working in a stately home in a Yorkshire coastal town and will air in 2015 due to Kay’s busy schedule of commitments, including, BBC1 pregnancy drama, In the Club and the US remake of The Syndicate for ABC – titled Lucky 7.

The second series which followed six hospital workers averaged 6.3m viewers and ended with 6.7m (25% share).

Kay Mellor said: “I’m delighted that the BBC is showing such faith in me as a writer and Rollem as an independent production company based in Yorkshire. It’s the first time I’ve been in a situation that I have a body of work ahead of me that will take me through the end of 2015.”

The drama is made by Mellor’s Rollem Productions, she will also act as executive producer alongside BBC head of independent drama, Polly Hill.

The Syndicate Series 3 will be filmed in Yorkshire in 2014 for transmission on BBC One in 2015.
