‘Plebs’ returning to Ancient Rome for second series.

ITV2 has recommissioned it’s Ancient Roman comedy, ‘Plebs’ for a second series.

Doon Mackichan, who plays sexually aggressive boss Flavia revealed to the Radio Times, that the crew will begin filming a second run in the purpose built studios outside Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria in the autumn .

Mackichan said: “We are really pleased to be going back to it – it really picked up a momentum when it aired.”

The comedy attracted a consolidated audience of 1.7m, making it ITV2’s biggest ever sitcom launch. The series is written by Tom Basden and Sam Leife and stars: Tom Rosenthal, Joel Fry, Ryan Sampson and Doon MacKichan.

‘Plebs’ series 2 is expected to broadcast in the spring of 2014.
