Peter Firth has confirmed he is to return to play his iconic role of Harry Pearce in a Spooks Movie, with filming expected to begin this Autumn.

Talking to thisisgrimsby to promote a charity event he is attending to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer, Peter said: “The TV series of Spooks has stopped filming now – everything has to come to an end… but I am preparing for a Spooks film in the autumn.

“I am looking forward to it and it will be on a much bigger scale.

“I enjoy playing Harry – it has been a lot of fun and it’s always good to play a hero with a dark side. He is not like myself, he is much cleverer than me.”

BBC One spy series Spooks made by production Kudos Film and Television, ran for ten series with Firth’s character the only one to appear in every episode.

*UPDATE* The Spooks film has been confirmed and will begin filming in early 2014. Read all the details here.
