BBC axes ‘The Hour‘ after two series

BBC Two newsroom drama, The Hour has been axed by the BBC following a fall in ratings.

Broadcast reports the BBC’s decision was based on securing future commissions. A BBC spokesperson said: “We loved the show but have to make hard choices to bring new shows through.”

The series starring, Ben Wishaw, Romola Garai and Dominic West is made by production company Kudos Film & Television. It’s Chief executive Jane Featherstone, said she was “sad and disappointed” by the BBC’s decision.

Created and written by Abi Morgan the series launched in 2011 with viewing figures of 2.89 million but dropped to 1.68 million for its second series.
