The wait for Primeval series five for terrestrial viewers is almost over!

The fifth series of Primeval finally gets a terrestrial airdate – premiering on ITV1 June 16th 2012, production company Impossible Pictures confirmed.

The six-episode supernatural series has already been broadcast on digital channel Watch in May/June of last year, under a joint agreement for broadcast rights with ITV.

The series five cast consists of Andrew-Lee Potts, Hannah Spearritt, Ciarán McMenamin and Ben Miller, who investigate the appearance of temporal anomalies, facing both prehistoric and futuristic creatures.

In February a post watershed North American spin-off was announced called; Primeval: New World, with Andrew-Lee Potts being the only UK cast member of Primeval to guest star as Conner amongst the cast of; Niall Matter (90210), Sara Canning (Supernatural), Miranda Frigon (Heartland), Geoff Gustafson (Hot Tub Time Machine) and Danny Rahim (EastEnders).

Primeval: New World is set to air on Watch in late 2012. ITV has not yet announced if they intend to air the new series.
