From Terence Winter, Emmy Award-winning writer of The Sopranos, and Academy Award Winning Director Martin Scorsese, Boardwalk Empire is a prohibition-era drama, starring Steve Buscemi, set at the dawn of the Prohibition era when the sale of alcohol became illegal throughout the United States. Charting the birth of organised crime, the series chronicles the life and times of Enoch ‘Nucky’ Thompson (Buscemi), the Atlantic City treasurer whose double role as politician and bootlegger makes him the most powerful man on the Boardwalk.
Boardwalk Empire returns for its third season on Sky Atlantic in the UK and HBO in the US in the autumn.
