BBC One Cancer drama announces cast
Paul Nicholls (Holby City, Law & Order: UK) is among the cast confirmed to join Sheridan Smith in one-off drama, The C Word – an adaptation of Lisa Lynch’s inspiring and candid book about her experience of cancer.
The 90-minute drama, from BBC Drama Production, is adapted by Nicole Taylor who worked closely with Lisa on the script before she passed away in 2013, aged 33.
Nicholls play Lisa’s husband, Pete, in this modern love story that begins when Lisa (Sheridan Smith) is first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of Twenty eight years old. Newly married to Pete, a man she is crazy about, her life is going in the right direction and in the order she planned it. Then, out of the blue, the life-altering event changes everything.
Haydn Gwynne and Michael Maloney will play Lisa’s parents, with Nate Fallows playing her brother, Jamie. Rebekah Staton and Susannah Field play Lisa’s friends, Gabby and Abigail respectively.
The C Word will be directed by Tim Kirkby and produced by Simon Lewis, with Susan Hogg as Executive Producer for BBC Drama Production.
The C Word will begin filming this month (June) in London.
