BBC2 has unveiled a trailer for a new season of Original British Drama including; Parades End, The Fall, Top of the Lake, Dancing on the Edge, The Girl and the second series of The Hour.
The season will begin with ‘Parade’s End,’ acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Tom Stoppard’s five-part adaptation of the Ford Madox Ford novels, charting a love triangle from the Edwardian era to the end of the First World War, starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead as Christopher Tietjens, his beautiful but wilful wife Sylvia (Rebecca Hall), and Valentine Wannop, a young suffragette, played by Adelaide Clemens.
The Fall is a five-part gripping psychological thriller that forensically examines the lives of two hunters. One is a serial killer who stalks his victims at random in and around Belfast played by Jamie Dornan (Once Upon a Time), and the other is a talented female Detective Superintendent Gibson on secondment from the MET who is brought in to catch him, played by Gillian Anderson.
Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake is a six-part drama starring Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Holly Hunter, Peter Mullan (War Horse) and David Wenham, in a story set in the remote mountains of New Zealand, about the disappearance of a five months-pregnant 12-year-old named Tui who was last seen standing chest deep in a frozen lake. In this classic mythic struggle, investigating detective, Robin Griffin (Moss), must lose herself in order to find the missing girl.
Stephen Poliakoff’s Dancing on the Edge is a five-part series following a black jazz band during the early 1930s in London, during times of extraordinary change. The drama stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthew Goode and Merlin actress Angel Coulby.
The Girl is a single film starring Toby Jones as Alfred Hitchcock which, for the first time, tells the full story of his obsessive relationship with Tippi Hedren played by Sienna Miller.
The Hour returns for a second six-part series. starring Romola Garai as Bel, Dominic West as Hector and Ben Whishaw as Freddie in the 1950s set newsroom drama.
