Warner Bros’ confirm Calista’s return… but not as a regular!

With the recent network move from CBS to The CW for the second season of Supergirl, plus the lack of information regarding Calista Flockhart‘s involvement as Cat Grant, fans and critics alike have been concerned if the actress would be appearing. Finally, we have an answer…

The good news is, Warner Bros’ have officially confirmed she will be returning in her role as CatCo’s boss. Bad news: Calista will no longer be a regular cast member, only appearing intermittently.

The role change has been directly caused by production moving from Calista’s hometown of Los Angeles to Vancouver – which has resulted in most of the cast, including star Melissa Benoist who plays the titular superhero, relocating to Vancouver while filming.

Cougar Town‘s Ian Gomez is to play Kara’s new boss, Snapper Carr in a recurring role.

Calista is said to be appearing in multiple episodes, including the season 2 premiere which begins in the US on the 10th October. Sky 1 airs the series in the UK, with the airdate yet to be confirmed.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement: “Supergirl wouldn’t be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen.”
