Nicole Kidman joins Elisabeth Moss for second series
Australian film actress Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Moulin Rouge) has joined the cast of Top of the Lake Series 2.
The BBC Two and SundanceTV drama from Jane Campion and Gerald Lee picks up four years after the events of season 1. Titled, Top Of The Lake: China Girl the new series sees Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) once again star as Detective Robin Griffin, who is investigating the case of an unidentified body which washes up on Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
Oscar winner Nicole Kidman’s role is, as yet, unspecified — however, she has worked with director Campion before, in 1996 film The Portrait of a Lady.
Kidman told The Daily Telegraph: “I am very excited to be coming home to work with darling friend Jane Campion, whose work I respect and admire,” adding, “I’m also so happy to be joining the incredible Elisabeth Moss.”
Kidman joins previously announced cast additions, Game Of Thrones Gwendoline Christie, David Dencik, Alice Englert and Ewen Leslie.
Top Of The Lake: China Girl is currently filming in Sydney, Australia for broadcast in the UK on BBC Two in 2017.
