The critically-acclaimed drama, created, written and executive produced by John Logan (Aviator, Gladiator), will return for nine new episodes starring Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green.

A co-production with Showtime, Penny Dreadful also features Reeve Carney, Harry Treadaway, Rory Kinnear, Danny Sapani and Billie Piper.

Zai Bennett, Director of Sky Atlantic said: “Penny Dreadful is the perfect fit for Sky Atlantic; truly international in scale and ambition but with a raft of British talent at its core, and filmed in the Republic of Ireland.”

David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc. added: “John Logan’s brilliant writing and this amazingly talented ensemble continue to draw a passionate, global fan base into the meticulously crafted world of Penny Dreadful. Together with our wonderful partners at Sky, we’re excited to see what new haunts John and his team have in store for season three.”

The second series saw Helen McCrory and Simon Russell Beale reprise their roles as Evelyn Poole (a.k.a. Madame Kali), and eccentric Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle respectively.  Tony Award winner Patti LuPone also appeared as a special guest star.

Penny Dreadful Series 3 will shoot on location in Dublin for transmission in 2016.
