Final season for Spector and Gibson story

BBC Two has confirmed that Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson will return for a third and final series of The Fall.

Written by Alan Cubitt, the Belfast based psychological thriller, which focuses on serial killer Paul Spector (Dornan) and DSI Stella Gibson’s (Anderson) pursuit to bring the him to justice, will return for five hour-long episodes.

The end of the second series saw Spector’s life hanging in the balance as he bled-out in Gibson’s arms after being shot.

Cubitt revealed earlier in the year of his confidence of a third series commission.

The cliffhanger ending of season two was conceived in the hope of further exploring the characters and the themes that are at the heart of The Fall. The Fall is expected to return in 2016.
