Cult shows do well in CW renewals
The CW channel has renewed all of its 2014 Autumn scripted dramas for new series.
The recommissioned shows (including UK channels they air on) are: The Flash (Sky 1) and Jane the Virgin (E4) for a second season. The Originals (Syfy UK), Reign (not currently shown in the UK) and The 100 (E4) will all return for a third season.
Arrow (Sky 1) has been given a fourth season. While long-running series Supernatural (E4) gets a 11th season and The Vampire Diaries (ITV2) will return for a 7th season.
CW president Mark Pedowitz said: “Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience.”
Adding: “By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season’s storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees. The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups.”
