BBC Four comedy to return in 2015

BBC Four comedy, Detectorists has been recommissioned for a second series of six episodes it has been confirmed.

Written, directed by and starring Mackenzie Crook, and co-starring Toby Jones, the series focuses on the relationship between two friends, Andy and Lance, who share a passion for metal detecting and dream of finding a priceless Saxon hoard.

The series, which also featured, Rachael Stirling, Aimee-Ffion Edwards and Lucy Benjamin, has attracted the highest ever viewing figures for a new comedy on BBC Four.

Mackenzie says: “I couldn’t be happier with how Detectorists has gone down and the response it has got from audiences. The opportunity to meet these characters again and tell some more of their stories is very exciting.”

Detectorists is produced by Channel X North and Lola Entertainment, and will return to BBC Four in 2015.
