Season 6 commissioned days before season 5 premiere
With the imminent premiere of season five of The Walking Dead upon us, AMC has announced that it has renewed the zombie apocalypse drama for a sixth season.
The series cast includes, Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman, Danai Gurira and Sonequa Martin-Green.
Season six, will see Scott M. Gimple return as showrunner and executive producer along with executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse.
“We could not be more excited for October 12th as we share new episodes of ‘The Walking Dead’ with fans around the globe,” said AMC President Charlie Collier.

A pilot for a potential companion series to The Walking Dead, was recently announced based on a new story and new characters from Robert Kirkman.
The Walking Dead will premiere in the UK on Monday, October 13 on FOX, 24 hours after its US debut on AMC.
