Channel 4 has commissioned new six-part comedy, ‘Catastrophe’, created by and starring US Twitter comedienne Rob Delaney and award-winning actress Sharon Horgan (star and co-writer of Pulling).

The 30-minute, single camera episodes follow an Irish woman (Horgan) and an American man (Delaney) who make a bloody mess as they struggle to fall in love in London.

Phil Clarke, Head of comedy at Channel 4, said: ā€œSharon Horgan and Rob Delaney are two unique, and supremely talented comic writers and performers, and they have come together to make a notably outstanding pilot. The result is an original and joyous transatlantic romantic comedy, and Iā€™m delighted that we are now going to series.ā€

Jon Thoday, Joint Managing Director of Avalon Television, said: ā€œWe are delighted to be producing another exciting new narrative project with Channel 4 and working with two brilliant original comic talents.ā€

The series is an Avalon Television production, directing is Ben Taylor (Cardinal Burns, Cuckoo); producing will be Adam Tandy (The Thick of It, A Touch of Cloth), while the Executive Producers are Richard Allen-Turner, Kara Baker and Jon Thoday.

Catastrophe is set to record this autumn.
