No return for ITV medical-drama
ITV has cancelled its sixties-set medical drama, Breathless after one series actress Zoe Boyle has confirmed.
In an interview with RadioTimes.com, the former Downton Abbey star who played Nurse Jean in the six-part series written by Paul Unwin, confirmed: “No series two, unfortunately.”
Boyle added: “It’s fine. It’s absolutely fine, It’s sometimes nice to just leave it as one little brief moment in time and not drag it out.”
“I loved the part and I loved the script and I loved the show as a whole,” she said. “I thought it looked beautiful and I really enjoyed watching it. But more than that it was just a really fun experience because [the cast] all got on really well… and there were no dramas on set.”
The drama, about a group of doctors and nurses working in a London hospital, starred, Jack Davenport, Oliver Chris, Joanna Page, Shaun Dingwall, Catherine Steadman, Sarah Parish, Natasha Little and Iain Glen, failed to attract audiences starting with a consolidated audience of 4.4 million which then dropped to 2.7 million by the final episode.
