1980s series Manimal set for film revamp!
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that film rights to 1980s series Manimal have been acquired by Sony Pictures Animation.
Manimal lasted for just eight episodes in the early 80s, airing on NBC in the USA and BBC in the UK. It starred English actor the late Simon MacCorkindale as Jonathan Chase, a British college professor at New York University who had the ability to transform into any kind of animal he wanted.
The show’s creator, Glen A Larson is attached as a producer. There’s no word on whether Michael Berk and Douglas Schwartz, who wrote for the show and would go on to create Baywatch, are involved.
Since the same studio confirmed last month they’re developing a live action/CGI version of ALF, you have to wonder what other series they might be chasing after; Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future movie anyone?
