The Fades writer reveals decision behind axe.
The Fades writer Jack Thorne has revealed that a fifth series of supernatural drama Being Human was chosen over a second series of the BBC Three drama.
33 year old Thorne who recently won a BAFTA for the axed drama as well as for his part in channel 4’s gritty drama This Is England 88, commented to A Younger Theatre on the potential to bring the series back:
“I don’t know what’s going to happen; there is a possibility. I’d love for it to come back, as I’ve still got stories to tell. I’m lucky to have a career, I’m just going to keep working, I’m not particularly bitter about it.”
Admitting: ” When it came down to it, it was between Being Human and The Fades [to be kept] and they chose Being Human.”
He added: “I can’t complain because it is a great show. It happened when there were massive cutbacks, so the drama budget was halved and they could only keep one long running series.
However the writer is upbeat especially after his BAFTA win which he says: “Felt entirely overwhelming, joyful and brilliant. Since then I’ve been in rehearsals, and now I’ve just been sitting here and I am slumped on my sofa. I feel very, very lucky.”
