The cast of BBC One’s ‘Merlin’ hint what’s to come in the upcoming fifth series.
Colin Morgan who plays the titular wizard says: “Merlin is becoming more ruthless, because he is becoming more solid in his beliefs,” said the 26-year-old actor during an interview with Digital Spy.
Adding: “He’s seeing things in a whole new way.”
Whereas Katie McGrath says the return of Mordred (now played by Alexander Vlahos) Is “interlinked” with her character, while Colin Morgan talks of Mordred being the biggest threat to Arthur played by Bradley James.
“You can’t tell the story of Morgana without Mordred,” she explained. “They are interlinked, they are entwined, and from the very first episode [of series five], you see that.”
Morgan says: “Anyone who knows the Arthurian legend knows what Mordred is destined to do… so that is the biggest threat, that is the biggest force.”
Earlier in the year Creator’s Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy revealed Angel Coulby’s: “Gwen will play a more prominent role.”
On a possible series 6 Capps revealed: “It’s a possibility – we don’t know the answer yet,” he said. “There’s conversations going on, but I can’t really say any more than that.”
Capps also spoke of a sixth series and the possibility of a movie earlier in the year: “We’re in discussions with BBC about Season 6, but we’re talking about the movies,” says Capps. “We’re
hopefully going to do a trilogy – three movies. We will focus on them when we finish Season 5.”
