Sean Bean returns as Marlott to seek his revenge.

Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) and the cast of ITV Encore / Endemol drama, The Frankenstein Chronicles have begun filming in Northern Ireland on the second season.

The six-part series, set in 1830s London, sees Bean return as John Marlott in a terrifying re-imagining of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. No longer a mere mortal, Marlott’s purpose is to seek revenge on Lord Daniel Hervey for taking his life, and to redeem his soul after being wrongly convicted and hanged for murder.

In his pursuit of Hervey, Marlott takes on the establishment in the form of Robert Peel’s newly formed Police force and the Church. In the darkest corners of Georgian London, Marlott acts as defender of the poor and destitute as he fights to clear his name and bring Hervey to justice.

The cast also includes, Laurence Fox (Lewis), Ed Stoppard (The Musketeers), Maeve Dermody (SS-GB) and Richie Campbell (Waterloo Road).  Robbie Gee (Cuffs), Ryan Sampson (Plebs), Tom Ward (Silent Witness) and Vanessa Kirby (The Crown).

The drama is produced by Rainmark Films, and written by Michael Robert Johnson, Paul Tomalin, Noel Farragher, Colin Carberry and Glenn Patterson
