Harry Potter alum Rupert Grint is set to star in and executive produce in a TV version of Snatch, based on the Guy Richie gangster movie of the same name.

The ten-part series – which will air on Sony’s streaming network Crackle – sees Grint play Charlie Cavendish, described as “the dynamic, frustratingly chaotic and utterly posh con man” by Deadline.

The drama also stars Dougray Scott (Fear the Walking Dead) as regular character Vic Hill, who continues the con game from inside prison; and Ed Westwick (Wicked City) as a recurring guest star, night club owner Sonny Castillo.

The original movie starring Jason Statham, Brad Pitt, Benicio del Toro and Vinnie Jones was released in 2000 by Sony Pictures, and followed a group of London’s underground criminals who are thrust into the world of organised crime when a robbery goes awry. The TV version is said to be in the same vein as the movie which was inspired by a real life heist in London.

Snatch is produced by Little Island Productions, Nick Renton (The Musketeers) will direct the series with Alex De Rakoff and Helen Flint also executive producing.

Production on Snatch begins next week (August) in Manchester for transmission in 2017 on US streaming service Crackle. No UK network has picked up the series to date.
