Whitehall dashingly suits up in classic story Decline and Fall

BBC Two has released a first look picture of actor and comedian Jack Whitehall (Bad Education) as Paul Pennyfeather, the hapless yet lovable protagonist of new three-part period comedy, Decline And Fall.

An adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s classic comedy satire,  Decline and Fall is set mainly in a fictional public school in the Welsh countryside, and filmed in over 70 locations around Wales.

Written by James Wood (Rev), the comedy also stars, David Suchet (Agatha Christie’s Poirot), Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), Douglas Hodge (The Night Manager), Stephen Graham (The Secret Agent), Vincent Franklin (Cucumber) and Jason Watkins (W1A).

Of his casting as Paul Pennyfeather, Jack Whitehall says: “I am extremely pleased to be a part of this amazing adaptation by James Wood. I’ve been a fan of this book since I read it as a teenager and I just hope that I can do it justice..”

Decline And Fall will air on BBC Two later this year.
