BBC One has commissioned a new three-part drama, Rillington Place – based on the real life multiple murders that took place around the late 1940s/early 1950s at the notorious address in Notting Hill.

Rillington Place focuses on the true stories of murderer John Christie, his wife Ethel, and their neighbour Timothy Evans, who all lived at the infamous address. Told from each of their viewpoints, this compelling drama explores the relationships and individual actions that led to this tragic miscarriage of justice, which contributed towards the abolition of capital punishment in Britain.

Rillington Place is made by BBC Drama Production in association with Bandit Television. It is directed by Craig Viveiros (And Then There Were None) and written by Ed Whitmore (He Kills Coppers) and Tracey Malone (Born To Kill).

Phillippa Giles, Managing Director of Bandit, says: “This has been a passion piece involving close relationships with the surviving family members, which we have developed over several years – it will be hugely emotional to start filming this painful story and finally bring it to screen.”

Filming on Rillington Place will begin at the end of March at the BBC Scotland drama studios in Dumbarton.
