Nicola Walker & Sanjeev Bhaskar to return to ITV

ITV have confirmed that critically acclaimed drama Unforgotten will return for a second series.

Written and created by Chris Lang, the first series – which ended tonight (12th Nov) – starred Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar as DCI Cassie Stuart and DS Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who were investigating a ‘cold’ murder case of 39 years ago, when the bones of a young man were found beneath the footings of a demolished house.

Unforgotten is produced by Mainstreet Pictures. The executive producers are Sally Haynes, Chris Lang and Laura Mackie.

ITV’s Director of Drama, Steve November today said: “We are pleased with the audience response to Unforgotten and I am delighted to announce that it will be returning for a second series with a brand new story from the writer Chris Lang and Mainstreet Pictures, a winning formula who have kept ITV drama viewers gripped throughout the first series.”

Creator and writer Chris Lang said: “I am immensely excited to be writing a second series of Unforgotten and relish the challenge of introducing a brand new story, where long buried secrets will once again be slowly brought to light.”

Cast and filming dates for the second series of Unforgotten will be announced at a later date.
