Gemma Chan stars as a robotic servant

The first image from new Channel 4 / AMC series Humans has been unveiled, showing Gemma Chan as a ‘Synth’ called Anita.

Made by Spooks producers Kudos, the eight-part sci-fi drama is based on Swedish drama Real Humans. Set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget is a ‘Synth’ – a highly-developed robotic servant eerily similar to its live counterpart.

Written by Spooks (series 9 and 10) writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, the series also stars William Hurt, Katherine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill, Colin Morgan, Rebecca Front and Neil Maskell.

Humans will air on Channel 4 and AMC later in the year.
