Peter Firth has yet again hinted that popular spy drama, Spooks could return as a movie, with a script already in the works penned by the hit series original writers.

Firth who played MI5’s Head of Counter-Terrorism, Harry Pearce in the BBC One series for ten years, told HuffPostUK: “There is a script kind of in the machine”

Adding: “They should make it, It’s not like it’s a gamble with this one. But it costs a lot, and there’s not a lot of money to go round at the moment.”

The actor who has since appeared in Channel 4’s World Without End and BBC One thriller Mayday was the only surviving original cast member to survive when the series ended with the death on his almost long-term love Ruth Evershed played by Nicola Walker. The ending was met with mixed critics reactions and upset many of the series fans. Peter had previously told HuffPostUK he had wished for a happier ending for his character with Intelligence analyst Ruth.

Matthew Macfadyen, Rupert Penry Jones, Keeley Hawes, and Lara Pulver are amongst the many stars who have been in the cast.
