BBC One’s ‘Merlin‘ has cast Kelly Wenham in the role of Queen Mab.

Best known for her role in ‘Where the Heart Is‘ and Charlie Brooker‘s E4 zombie show ‘Dead Set’, Wenham’s online filmography claims that she will play Queen Mab In the fifth series of the fantasy show.

The Mab character is known as a fairy in the story of ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ but in relation to ‘Merlin‘ was last in seen in Sam Neill‘s 1988 ‘Merlin‘ TV mini-series as the evil twin sister of the Lady of the Lake and creator of Merlin, who is born to a human mother. Believing that Merlin can save her with the “Old Ways” she warns that one day she will return and take him away once he manifests his powers.

‘Merlin‘ stars Colin Morgan, Bradley James, Angel Coulby, Katie McGrath and Richard Wilson. Anthony Head is also set to make a reappearance as Uther in the fifth series.

‘Merlin‘ returns to BBC One later in the year.
